Hurricane Irene Fall 2011

Hurricane Irene - Fire Island Although there was very little damage to our houses from Hurricane Irene, the snow fencing that protects our dunes was washed away or flattened down by the back wash from the high ocean waves. On September 22nd clean up crews started removing the damaged fencing so that new fencing can be installed. The Erosion Control District is planning on having all the new fencing up in October which is the past peak time for hurricane season.
